SQL Server error: The Select permission was denied on the object 'extended_properties' from database 'mssqlsystemresource'

I'm not able to generate a database script in MS SQL Server Management Studio, it shows me the following error (attached screenshot)

ms sql server error

Does anyone know what could be causing it?

One would have to assume that you have insufficient permissions (as the message says). Although it is an odd to a permission error in the resource database.

What permissions do you have? What is your role on the server?

What does "SELECT @@version" report?
