Hi @D_824
Thank you for reaching us!
let me answer your question one by one.
- Am I able to crack open the password policy and change it such as the length requirements, characters used, etc?
As per Microsoft Entra password policies are defined you can't change the password policies, but you can Eliminate bad passwords using Microsoft Entra Password Protection. Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/authentication/concept-sspr-policy
- Every time someone changes a password would there be a problem with latency.
When a user changes their password in Entra ID, the change typically reflects almost immediately.
- Would I need to pull out the Group Policy Objects (GPO) after installation?
After configuring Entra Password Protection, you don’t need to remove existing Group Policy Objects. The Entra Password Protection policies will work alongside your existing GPOs
- How does this effect Fine-grained password policies and PSO's?
Entra Password Protection does not affect Fine-grained password policies and Password Settings Objects.
- If Entra Password Protection is implemented, then would it affect only users or would service accounts be subject as well?
Entra Password Protection applies to both users and service accounts. This means that service accounts will also need to comply with the password policies enforced by Entra Password Protection.
- What will happen if the service endpoint goes down for Entra if my environment is using Entra Password Protection?
Microsoft Entra ID is available when business operations require it, Microsoft doesn't plan downtime for Microsoft Entra system maintenance. Instead, maintenance is performed as the service runs, without customer impact.
