Ping broadcast address

Iam trying to ping the broadcast address on my LAN , iam getting time out and from another machine on the same LAN I can ping the broadcast address 192.168.1.255 . what is the issue iam facing

    Hi ,

    If your subnet is 192.168.1.x with a mask of 255.255.255.0. Don’t be concerned about the “Request timed out” messages, I would think this is a normal phenomenon.

    As you can see the same behavior in my lab:

    Hi CandyLuo
    Is that means when I ping the broadcast and do not receive a reply the purpose behind the ping is done .
    Means iam having an application and that application is pinging the broadcast in order to get the mac address of all connected phone on the network , is that going to be working still even with timed outs iam getting .
