Is Dynamic shutdown of a hypervisor is supported in Hyper-V Cluster or SCVMM?

If I have a Hyper-V cluster of 4 nodes and I have all VMs running on only 2 hyper-v servers and 2 are idle. Is there a way to keep 3rd server available for failover and shutdown 4th server when not required?

Further to this, is there a way to start the 4th node automatically if any 1 of these 3 nodes goes down?

If it is not in Windows server Hyper-V or SCVMM, then can System Center Orchestrator help?

    Basically the answer is "yes".
If you can't find a dedicated Activity in an Orchestrator Integration Pack: You can run a PowerShell script in a .Net Script activity to do the job.

    Hi,

This is Anne from Windows Cluster team, from Cluster aspect, there's no built-in settings to achieve your goal. All cluster nodes are recommended to be online in the cluster whenever there's a role on it.

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,
    Anne
