Issue List: No list items that SharePoint Migration Tool takes into account.

Hello,

When migrating an entire SharePoint 2013 site to SharePoint Online, using SharePoint Migration Tool, all sub-sites, lists and libraries have been created but the issue lists remain empty with more than 1000 items. I have no error, the items are not even scanned. I am however administrator of the site collection on SharePoint 2013.

Did I miss a parameter? Besides, I do not have, in the interface, the parameter "Migrate lists with lookup columns" which could be the origin of my problem. Yet the migration tool is up to date.

Thanks for your help.
Fred

    Hi anonymous userel,

I tried to migrate a site collection which contains a large list and a list including look up column from SharePoint Server 2013 to SharePoint Online using SPMT, they were all migrated successfully. I also tried separately to migrate a large list and a list with look up column to SharePoint Online, and they both succeed either.

During my test, I left All migration settings with default:

So I couldn’t reproduce your issue in my environment. To narrow down your issue, let’s verify the followings:
1.Does this problem occur in part of the lists or in all lists? If it occurs in part of the lists, is there any difference between the issue lists and normal lists(large list? audience targeting enabled? contain look up or calculated columns? and etc.)?

2.Check your migration settings that if something is accidentally set wrong and please share a snapshot of your settings.

3.You can go to C:\Users\<currentuser>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MigrationTool\<xxxxx>.onmicrosoft.com\<WF_xxxxxx>\Report and check whether there is FailureSummary.csv report file which is created when failures or errors happen during the migration process in it. If it exists, please check the failures or errors listed in it.

As a workaround, I suggest you to delete the issue lists in SharePoint Online firstly and then try to separately migrate the issue list to SharePoint Online.

    Hello AlienXu,

The problem occurs in diffrent lists, created from the same custom template. These lists contain a lookup field that references another field in the same list.

    I don't have FailureSummaryReport.csv file.

Here is my configuration (GlobalSettings.csv) :

    Setting,Value
    Migration auto re-run,False
    User mapping file,
    Use custom Azure storage,False
    Migrate file version history,True

    Automatic user mapping,True
Preserve user permission for SharePoint Server,True
Preserve user permission for File Share,False
    Filter out hidden files,False
Migrate OneNote folder as OneNote notebook,False
    Temporarily allow migration of scripts,True
    Only Perform Scan,False
Start Migration If No Scan Issue,False
    Preserve Permission Inheritance,True
    Migrate Site Settings,PRESERVE_ALL_BUT_SKIP_TITLE_LOGO
    Skip List With Audience Enabled,False
    Migrate All Web Fields ContentTypes,True

    Migrate Managed Metadata,True
    Migrate Pages Options,OVERWRITE

    Hello,
I have seemingly the same issue in migrating two lists, that do even contain any lookups. The migration Tool greates an empty list whatever I try:

    • Migrate an singlel list
    • Migrate all lists, libraries , ...

    here are my Settings:
    163527-globalsettings.txt

    Please advise what to do.
    Thanks
