Hello,

Within our company we have a few channels, with each channel containing a planner premium plan. When we are working within a plan Teams members are utilizing the task conversation function and within task conversation they are dragging files directly into the conversation. However, when they do this the file, they dragged over remains a private file only the owner can view even though we are working within a shared plan. The person who dragged the file over is having to go into each individual file and share with the Team. Is there a permission setting we can change which will automatically share a file dropped into the task conversation of a plan?

    Hi @Alex Hoppman
In Microsoft Teams, there is currently no direct setting to automatically share files uploaded to Planner. Fortunately, there are some possible solutions to achieve similar results:

    • Use a shared folder: Create a shared folder in OneDrive or SharePoint and make sure all team members have access. Upload files to this folder and the files will automatically inherit the sharing permissions.
    • Manually adjust permissions: After uploading the file, manually adjust the sharing permissions of the file. You can find the file in Teams, right-click and select "Share", and then set the appropriate permissions.
    • Automation tools: Use Microsoft Power Automate to create an automation process that automatically changes its permissions to shared when a file is uploaded to a specific folder.

Thanks for your understanding and support.
