Hi folks,

Hope you are doing well!

I'm trying to understand source of monthly windows updates getting installed in one of my Win2016 server machines.

Below are current findings (sconfig, registry or Admin Templates) but none of them are refferring to auto updates, still this box is getting patches each month automatically.
Any help to this will be highly appreciated.

  • sconfig is set to manual updates.

  • Registry Keys at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU are set not to install updates automatically (at least that is how I understand this as specified here
    ).
    User's image
  • Windows Update settings (under Administrative Templates) are not setting any specific values either.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum

You can try to follow below step to disable windows update service to see if it works

    Win+R >>> services.msc >>>find windows update >>>> turn the status to disable

    Best regards

    Yanhong
