How to rename DCR which is created during Migration of MMA Agent to AMA agent for Change Tracking and Inventory of an VM.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/automation/change-tracking/guidance-migration-log-analytics-monitoring-agent?tabs=ct-single-vm%2Climit-single-vm

While following this method for migrating change tracking and inventory of an VM from Microsoft Monitoring Agent to Azure Monitoring Agent (MMA with be deprecated on 31st August) , it is autogenerating an an Data collection Rule. So I want to rename it so that i can also include Windows performance and Events logs in the same DCR.

If can't Rename DCR then does creating an other DCR for Windows Performance and Events logging generated me extra cost or not ?

And According to AI answer , I have not found renaming capabilities under configuration in DCR Page.

To rename a Data Collection Rule (DCR) that was created during the migration of Microsoft Monitoring Agent (MMA) to Azure Monitoring Agent (AMA) for Change Tracking and Inventory of a virtual machine, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal and go to Monitor.
    2. Under Settings, select Data Collection Rules.
    3. Select the data collection rule that you want to rename from the listing page.
    4. In the data collection rule page, under Configurations, select Rename.
    5. Enter the new name for the data collection rule and select Save.

Creating another DCR for Windows Performance and Events logging will generate additional cost. It is recommended to include Windows Performance and Events logs in the same DCR as Change Tracking and Inventory data to avoid additional cost.

    Hi @Shaheer Dudekula

You can't rename a DCR rule once it's been created. The name is part of the resource id and that's something, to my knowledge, can't be changed. Your only option is to export, under Automation of the DCR, a template of the resource and redeploy with the new name.

Now the good news to this method is you will be essentially creating a copy of the existing rule, so the template will contain the data sources and destinations that's already been created for it. The destination will be parameter, which will allow you to change workspace destination if you so choose. Once you've created the copy of the DCR, you can either elect to delete the rule or disable it by clearing the data sources and/or resources associated with the DCR.
