Hi
I just switched from macbook to Microsoft surface 7th edition windows 11 home to become a data analyst and pursue this career.

However I have a very disappointing experience , I tried to download SQL server and everytime the installation process goes to the end I receive two errors .
I don't know how to solve them .

Can someone please help me with this issue ?

Is that a Surface with an Snapdragon? Bad news, SQL Server does not run on ARM.

There is something called Prism for x86 emulation on ARM, and I've heard of people who have been able to get SQL Server running on their Surfaces this way. But I've also heard of people that certainly are tech savvy to just give up.

Ironically, it might have been slightly easier to get SQL Server running on the Macbook in a Docker container.

If you have the option to return the Surface in favour of an machine with an Intel or AMD processor, that is the easiest way out.

    Hi @Hatem Soliman ,

Thank you for your reaching out and welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

As Erland said, if it is a Surface with a Snapdragon, as of now, Microsoft SQL Server does not support ARM architecture. This means you won't be able to install SQL Server directly on your device.

There was someone who encountered the same issue as yours before. We recommended the Prims to him, too. However, I can't comment on the complexity of installing/using Prism, since I don't have a Surface.

    I agree with Erland:

If you have the option to return the Surface in favour of an machine with an Intel or AMD processor, that is the easiest way out.

    Best regards,

    Lucy Chen
