Some hacker has taken over my personal microsoft account, and I'd like that account deleted

So, my personal Microsoft account was accessed by a hacker, and while they had access they have changed my password, deleted all my security info, and added their email address as a security option. I have tried to use the automated system, however it has been ruled that I haven't provided enough data to prove that it was my account. This is quite annoying.

I can accept that I might not be able to have the account back, but a least delete a compromised account that a hacker has total control of please.

We aren't able to help you with this kind of issue here. You will need to work with MS Support directly as provided here.

Remember that, from MS point of view, you could be a malicious user attempting to get someone else's account deleted. So they require overwhelming proof of identity. If you cannot provide that then they aren't going to do anything.

If the account was compromised and you will never get it back then does it really matter that the account still exists? Any licenses tied to that account are now lost and any associated devices are still connected. Without access to the account you've lost all that data. Furthermore any subscriptions that may be tied to it are probably still going to get billed so hopefully you have closed any related billing accounts with your bank/CC provider. You should disconnect any accounts associated with any of your devices (Windows, XBox, etc) as well. I believe the better approach would be to verify your identity to MS and have them recover your account. You still need to clean up your billing information and whatnot but at least you'd get your subscriptions and licenses back.
