Contribute permission only News Pages under Site Pages Lbrary

Is it possible to give specific users - Contribute permission only News Pages under Site Pages Lbrary. Other Site Pages, these specific users should not modify or delete. Only they can create new news page.

Hi @SGH ,

We could grant Contribute permission to specific users on existing News post page via unique permission.

Then these users will have no access to other pages in the site pages library.

However, we could not prevent other users with the correct permissions on the team site from adding News posts.

For example, anyone who has contribute permissions on the site home page can add the News post normally.

Try following steps to set unique permission for the existing news post page:

1.Go to Site Pages Library to select News pages and right click them to click Manage access.

2.Scroll down to click Advanced and choose Stop Inheriting Permissions to let pages have unique permissions.

3.Remove user permission which you don’t want, then grant specific users with Contribute permission as below.

4.These users can enter News pages and edit via URLs.

If you set unique permissions on these existing news post pages, they can still edit them, however they cannot add news pages.

If you want them to add and edit news post page, we suggest you keep contribute permission at site level, library level, news post page level, then remove permissions at other site pages that you don’t want them to access.

For space pages in Site Pages Library,unique permission is applicable.

Here are steps to make the users create News post:

1.Go to Site Pages Library > right click Site pages which you don’t want them to access and select Manage access.

2.Remove user permission of Site Pages.

3.Then Grant specific users with Contribute permissions at site level, these users will inherit Contribute permissions on News page existing in
Site Pages Library.

On News page, we could add and edit News post.
