Dear all,

Our compagny will soon acquire Office 2019 pro plus.
We still need office 2013 because of infopath as some functionalities are not compatible with the web client.

Here is my question :
Is there a way to deploy the upgrade from sccm of 2016 to 2019 without removing office 2013 (only infopath is installed) and to upgrade (only the app of 2016 installed on the machine) to office 2019 ?

Some of our users are not using the same office app even if they are in the same department that's why we want to avoid to install the full office package for everyone.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Lucas

This requires some planning and testing.
    My observations.

    1) You cannot install C2R product on a machine that is running MSI version of office version 2016. You must remove msi version (2016) before you install c2R product.

2)You can keep MSI version of office 2013 and lower products and they are supported (as per my testing 2 years ago, not sure if any changes in that) for the installation of C2R and both versions can exist on the device.

    3) The components that you want to keep is 2013 but not 2016, you can script it with the help of powershell app deployment toolkit to remove office 2016 MSI if found and then install office 2019 , keeping office 2013 products (untouched).

    1. With the help of powershell app deployment toolkit or other scripting methods, you can achieve this.

    Thanks for your answer.

I am not sure to understand C2R, the iso of office 2013&2016 come from Microsoft volume license.

Also now my question is if we have to uninstall the version 2016 of office does the specific options will remain and will be kept in office 2019 ?

For example in excel some users are using the dot instead of coma.

    Thanks and regards,

    Lucas

    @Lucas Vorms

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

    1. Microsoft releases security and quality updates for the Click-To-Run (C2R) version of Office 2016 and for Office 2019, which is exclusively C2R.
    2. If we remove MSI doesn't uninstall prior versions of Office, including Visio and Project, that use Click-to-Run as the installation technology. But it seems to be more related to office issues,at such situation, to get better support, it is suggested to post on the Office 365 Microsoft community to see if they have some comments about this, as they may have more resources about the office. Our SCCM is a tool to deploy the office application, so I appreciate your understanding that we are not the best channel to address this issue since the forum is mainly focusing on SCCM simple break-fix issues.
To obtain the post for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:

Thank you very much for your kind understanding and have a nice day!
