Allow normal users to create a share

Hi,

we are running some windows 2016 machine. We have a situation where users are normal users (not admins) but they must have the ability to create a share (out of a external disk)
How can I make this happen without making them full admin?

I believe in the past this would be possible by making them Power user but I believe this group is obsolete.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. However the disks are changed a lot.

I fixed it by making them power users. They were able to create a share as soon as they were Power User

    Hi,

You can give permission of the external disk to normal users.

    • Right click the external disk and choose Properties
    • In Security, click at Edit. You need administrative privilege to do this.
    • Click on Add, in prompt windows Select Users or Groups, input everyone then click Check names.
    • After you see

click OK and you can check Permissions for Everyone

    • Please remember to click on Apply. And the permission will take effect after users' next logon.
