remove organization from Teams

I have a personal 365 subscription with teams. I am an independent contractor and collaborate with Teams every once in a while.

An organization added my personal email that is associated with my subscription to their Teams list. They subsequently removed my email from their list, but I still have their Organization associated with my account.

I have tried everything -- MSFT support, delete keychains, reinstall, myappps.microsoft.com (it won't let me log in because I am not associated with their organization), called client's IT support (they HAVE removed me from their teams.

MSFT support has now kicked me over to Business support even though I have a personal subscription. Any help appreciated. I just want to disassociate these other organizations from my account.

    Hi @Hunter Bost

Here are some steps you can try to disassociate the organization from your personal Microsoft Teams account:

Leave the Organization via Microsoft Account:

    1. Go to My Account - Organizations and sign in with your personal account credentials.
    2. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then select “View account.”
    3. Scroll down to the “Organizations” section and click on “Manage organizations.”
    4. Find the organization you want to remove and click on “Leave organization.” Confirm your choice if prompted.

Check Access Work or School Settings:

    1. On your device, go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. Find the organization you want to remove and click on it, then select Disconnect.

    Remove from Microsoft Entra:

    1. If you have access, go to the Microsoft Entra portal.
    2. Navigate to the Organizations section and find the organization you want to leave.
    3. Follow the prompts to remove yourself from the organization.

I have tried everything. Ultimately I always end up at Entra admin center, where it says I'm the admin of an organization I haven't been a part of in five years. I cannot leave it, as it says I'm the admin. I try to delete the tenant, but it denies that as well. Do I need to call the organization?

If you followed all the steps about removing your Work account, then sign out of your Personal account in Teams and it should clear the cache. Then try signing in again on Teams with your personal account.
