How do I enable edit grid view in Azure Devops boards, so I can edit work item fields when in a grid/table view

Question

I believe in the recent past when using the backlog view, or work items view, where there was a table/grid of work items I could directly edit column values from that grid view. Is there somewhere I can turn this feature on, or has it disappeared?

Also for some reason there was no way to tag this with azure devops.
