When customer is trying to connect databricks from powerbi desktop it is not working failing with the below error

Details: 'ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ThriftExtension] (14) Unexpected response from server during a HTTP connection: Could not resolve host for client socket..'

CX informed me that she is trying to connect Power Bi desktop only to connect databricks. both are in different vnet and didn't configured any peering for both the vnet. And NPIP is enabled.

They have zscaler in their azure vd ,the request goes via proxy to zscaler then to internet.

as same machine they can access ADB directly from the odbc Driver. But When they try to connect from Power BI they are getting the error.

    Hello Gajulapalli Chamanthi (MINDTREE LIMITED),

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

The Databricks connector does not support Web proxy.

The workaround is: Using default system credentials for web proxy

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-troubleshooting-sign-in#using-default-system-credentials-for-web-proxy

    Troubleshooting doc:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-troubleshooting-sign-in#using-default-system-credentials-for-web-proxy

The best practice would be better not to put a web proxy between Power BI and Databricks.

I hope this answers your question.
