I am getting the pivot table error "The PivotTable report field is grouped. You cannot add a calculated item to a grouped filed"

Question

I am getting the pivot table error "The PivotTable report field is grouped. You cannot add a calculated item to a grouped filed" when trying to add a calculated item.

I have two pivot tables in the KPI sheet ( I am making a dashboard ). I cant remove the first pivot table that I have made because it is acting as a reference for the dashboard information.

The problem got solved when i opened the same data set in a new workbook , created a pivot table and added a calculated item . What might be the problem . I need to complete this project ASAP. Kindly help.

Hi,

Try to right click the PivotTable cell- click “Ungroup"- The Group field will be removed from the fields list.
