How do I remove a New Outlook email account without deleting other accounts?

When I go to Email Accounts in the New Outlook to remove a recently added account, it is telling me to first to remove two other accounts first. But those other accounts are my primary email accounts and I do not want to lose all those emails.

Firstly you could check the following official document to remove the accounts for New Outlook:

Add an email account to Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

There is no mention of needing to remove other email accounts first when trying to remove an account in the new Outlook for Windows.

I have three MS 365 accounts. The third one is with an employer I no longer work with and wish to delete. When I go to Account Details in New Outlook, the "Remove" button is greyed out and when I hover over it the bubble says "The account is providing its license to Lawrence@ixxxcom and Lawrence@Gxxxx.com. To remove this account, please remove those accounts first."

I don't understand that. I've had those two other accounts for years. Decades. The one I want to delete is just a couple of weeks old.

Thanks for your reply. In order to protect your private information, I have hidden the email address. It seems that this issue is related to the license based on the error message. Please check if this account is used for Office (Outlook) activation.

Hi Jayce,

Thanks for helping with privacy protection. I've used the 1st two accounts with MS 365 for months. So, I assume by your question that they were used for for Office activation??? The third account that I am trying to delete was added just a few weeks ago and should have nothing to do with activation. How do I find out which account is used for activation?

We need to switch to classic Outlook to check the activation. Additionally, based on my previous experience, you can remove all accounts and then re-add the two accounts you need in New Outlook. This process will not result in any lost emails.
