Algorithm used by DPAPI for encryption

Details

The ProtectedData (DPAPI) class documentation mentions that it enables data encryption, but it does not explain which algorithm it uses internally, such as AES 256, etc.

I previously raised a ticket Link with the Dotnet team who referred me to the Windows team.

Some 3rd party links suggest that it uses AES 256 from Windows 7 upwards. Link1 Link2
