I have recently bought a new phone. I use authenticator for an account at work that was set up recently and added this to the authenticator on the old phone I had at the time using a QR code (this account is not email addressed so can't be manually added). I have synced it with my personal email address and backed it up. Now I have downloaded authenticator onto my new phone and it's logged in with my personal email address, I can't restore the accounts I have saved on my old phone onto my new phone, how do I do this? I can't re add it via a QR code as there is no way for me to generate a new one with my work account but I have to keep using my old phone to access it when I want to get rid of it.

You may refer to the article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/restore-account-credentials-from-microsoft-authenticator-ce53096e-1e1c-4840-9e32-1618bc33cd43

    iOS

    1. Sign in to your iCloud account. This is where the credentials are stored.
    2. On your mobile device, open Authenticator, and select Begin recovery. Important: Select the Begin recovery link before signing in.
    3. Sign in to your recovery account using the personal Microsoft account you used during the backup process. Your account credentials are recovered to the new device.

    Android

    1. On your mobile device, open Authenticator, and select Begin recovery. Important: Select the Begin recovery link before signing in.
    2. Sign in to your recovery account using the personal Microsoft account you used during the backup process. Your account credentials are recovered to the new device.

    Important:

    • Do not sign in before restoring account credentials. If you have signed in, sign out before proceeding with account recovery.
    • You can only back and restore on the same device type: i.e. accounts backed up using an iOS device cannot be restored on an Android device.
