How do I grant an external user access to my SharePoint site?

My tenant allows the least restrictive sharing restrictions (anyone).

I have granted access to person@external-domain.net, but when that person tries to log in to my SharePoint site, they still get this error message:User's image

What am I missing? person@external-domain.net shows up as a guest user when I go to the "New Groups" in the "New Outlook," (because adding external users to a SharePoint group has to be done through Outlook) but even though that person shows up as a guest, they're still getting the error shown above.

Is there somewhere else I go to approve access for person@external-domain.net?

    Hi,

You need to add to the Sharepoint Resource Group in your tenant. For example, if you have a Sharepoint with name "Financial", it has a 3 groups (visit, owner and members) with differents permissions.

For this, you need to go to the configuration options and check this

And add your user in one of the groups

Please follow below tips to troubleshoot the issue.

1.Enable external sharing in the tenant level. Go to SharePoint admin center -> Polices -> Sharing -> Set Anyone in the Content can be shared with section.

2.Enable external sharing in the tenant site level. Go to SharePoint admin center -> Sites -> Active sites -> Select the site -> Sharing -> Set Anyone in the External sharing.

3.Go to Site permissions -> Change how members can share -> Set Site owners and members can share files, folders, and the site. People with Edit permissions can share files and folders. Make sure you at least in the members group for the site collection.

4.Go to Site permissions -> Change how members can share -> Trun off Allow access requests.

5.Go to Site Settings -> Site collection features -> Deactivate Limited-access user permission lockdown mode feature.

After checking above tips, go to Site permissions -> Share site only -> Grant external user access to site collection.
