Can not add an account to the mail app

I got a new laptop and it's causing me quite a problem. I can not add an account to my mail and calendar app. It gets stuck at the "creating the account" page. help

    You may want to consider any of the following actions:

    1. Restart the application.
    2. Check for app updates.
    3. Remove and re-add the account. If you partially added the account, it may be causing the issue. Go to Settings > Accounts, find the account you tried to add, and remove it. Then attempt to re-add the account.
    4. Clear cache and app data.
    5. Check for windows update.
    6. Reinstall the application.

    #6 usually does the job.
