Storage Space - recover data

Hi,

I have a Windows 10 Storage Space that was originally set up as a two-way mirror with two 1.8TB Seagate USB drives. Recently I started to get health problems on one drive and before I could get a new drive to replace it, also on the second drive. I now have two new drives and managed to add one of them to the storage space. It appears to have the data on it, but the storage space is still showing issues and I can't bring it online.

Here is the screenshot of the storage space:

Here are the outputs of some powershell commands that might be relevant:

50524-get-virtualdisk.png
50525-get-storagepool.png

Here is the error I'm seeing in event viewer:

Here is some information on the two failing disks:

There is an "Optimizing drive usage" job running that has been running for weeks and is 0% done. I've tried everything I can to stop that job and been unable to stop it.

The laptop only has 3 USB ports, unfortunately. If I remove one of the bad drives and connect in a second new drive, it won't allow me to add it to the pool.

Any thoughts on what could be done? I've thought about cloning the bad drive that is "Error: consider replacing" to the second new drive. Also thought about getting a USB hub so all 4 drives (2 old bad and 2 new) could all be connected at once.

Thanks!

    Hi,
According to your screenshots, both of your two original drives have got some problems and need to be replaced.
Two-Way Mirror writes two copies of you data, helping to protect you from a single drive failure. Because two drives failed, it is suggested to backup all your data, destroy the original storage space and create a new one with two healthy drives and restore your data.

    Thanks for your time!
    Best Regards,
    Mico Mi

    Hi Mico,

Thanks for the reply. How do I backup all my data? I can't currently make the storage space active so I can read anything.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I found a thread about recovering data using some tools (or you can try some other tools that you are familiar with) and hope it could help at your side:
