How to have tags in shared channels

Hi everyone,

In our organization, we have a Microsoft Teams setup with both shared and private channels, which we use to collaborate with external guests. We want to create tags for the shared channels, but since these channels were shared with a whole team rather than individual members, only I (as the owner) am showing up when trying to create tags.

Is there a way to create tags in this case? Could Power Automate help with this?

As the channels were shared with a whole team rather than individual members, no other members are showing up when trying to create tags. This seems to be by design.

Also, as per this documentation, Tag mentions aren't supported in shared and private channels.

As above said, You might not be able to create tags for shared channels in the same way you can for standard channels.

Use Microsoft Graph API: You can use the Microsoft Graph API to create and manage tags in Microsoft Teams. You’ll need to set up HTTP requests in Power Automate to interact with the Graph API.

Set Up Authentication: Ensure you have the necessary permissions and authentication set up. This typically involves registering an app in Azure AD and granting it the appropriate permissions to write to Microsoft Teams channels.

Create a Flow:

Trigger: Decide how you want the flow to be triggered (e.g., when a new item is added to a SharePoint list, or a new message is posted in a Teams channel).

HTTP Action: Use the HTTP action in Power Automate to make a POST request to the Graph API endpoint for creating tags.
