Password setup

Question

• I recently purchased a used windows 11 laptop. I enter via the "admin" account which does not have a password. How do I create a password for that account, or another Admin account with my name?

I've read advice that I will/may have a loss of data.

Hi David,

Thanks for your post. To set up a default administrator account in Windows 11, please use the following steps:

1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
2. Click Add account.
3. Fill in your personal account name and password.
4. Change account type to administrator account.
5. Click Start Menu to change account.
