Hi, i am working to create a teams chatbot for my organization to access SharePoint data, for that i am using azure cognitive search service and azure open AI. After testing the response in azure open AI studio i deployed to [a new teams app (review)], after opening the code in VS code and followed the suggestion given in readme.md page, when i debugging the code it's showing below error : User's image

the same chatbot was working few days before, but now i am struggling to fix this issue.

Please help me to fix it. Thank you.

Please note that we are aware of this issue. The Product owners are working in identifying the cause and providing the fix.

A workitem has been created internally to fix this. Currently there is no ETA for the fix. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime as a workaround, Could you please try to turn off the citations and check if that helps ? You can try to adjust your prompt to exclude citation generation. This can be done by altering the instructions given to the model. For example, you can explicitly instruct the model not to generate citations in your prompt and check if that helps.

I tried that - it does not work. I think citations are a core feature and gets returned with the API response. I doubt system prompt can override that.

Edit: sometimes it works. I'll use that as a workaround. Would appreciate the fix asap.

Can you give the exact system prompt you are using? I have encountered the same error, but I am not able to turn the citations off with a system prompt.

Same problem. It was working fine a few weeks ago.

If I explcicitly add "do not include citations" in the prompt the problem goes away. But I def need the citations.

For example:

"describe some issue" >> error

"describe some issue. do not include citations" >> describes the issue

I checked the schema in azure search service index but there is no "citation.appearance.abstract" field to edit. The whole project is not working because of this.

2 - Can you provide any documentation or guidance on how to handle citations? The problem seemed quite out of hands when it comes to "citation.appearance.abstract" and I'm also interested in customizing or handling citations by my own.

Issue is Resolved:

Manually edit the file package.json, and run npm i. It should look like something like that.

Microsoft team has successfully resolved this issue, by bumping a newer version now. @rbertucat Helped me here to solve this issue, so all thanks to him and everyone working in the backend.

The fix has been deployed to all regions and that should fix this issue. Please test this and let me know if you are still encountering this issue.

The ZIP file that Azure OpenAI Playground provides still does not work, but if you manually upgrade these dependencies on package.json, it does not give the error:

"@microsoft/teams-ai": "~1.4.1", "openai": "^4.61.0",

However, the citations are still displayed as [doc1] but are non-clickable and are not even returned in the response (seen from VS Code - Debug on Teams (Chrome/Edge)).

Any updates @navba-MSFT @Prasad-MSFT on how to display the source or the citations?

Microsoft have updated several versions to tackle this problem, Heres what you all can do:

Manually edit the file package.json, and run npm i. It should look like something like that.

Everything is done by Microsoft and @rbertucat helped me in this. So all thanks to him and everyone working in the back end.
