How do you diagnose appointment notifications?

Hi. Exchange 2016 on-premise. Last CU, Last SU,

Client Office 2016 pro plus, last updates.

A user reports that notifications about appointments are not working correctly. Sometimes they do not come. Sometimes they come at once all emails about meetings that have already passed.

How to diagnose this ? I haven't worked with calendars in Exchange and don't know what troubleshooting methods are available. I want to understand why notifications are not coming or why they are delayed.
