Hello,

Please i need your help on this issue.

We develop solutions to create beautiful and engaging Digital Workplace within SharePoint.

We have over 150 clients and 600k User. We identified an critical issue that affect several of our clients concerning the SharePoint page creation that have been updated this summer.

This is a SharePoint issue caused by page creation in subfolders when users don't give their page a name.

Reproduction steps: Access a subfolder in the page library. Click "New" and choose to create a page. Exit the page without changing its name. Try again—the creation will no longer be possible with the following error "The file at https://mozz is locked for shared use by Admin [membership].

This typically means that the file is being edited or has been checked out by that user."

Issue description: In the site's page library, the page creation process has recently changed: Before: When a new page was created, the associated file had a randomly generated name (e.g., /SitePages/xxxx.aspx) before the user updated the page name.

Now: When creating a page, the file receives a standardized name like Page{INDEX}.aspx, where {INDEX} is a counter that increments based on the number of existing pages with this naming pattern.

This counter is supposed to increment with each new page creation.

Impact : It is now impossible for user to create a page in a folder of the page library as soon as someone created a page and left it without giving it a name.

All users are experiencing the same problem, in our client’s environment and our test environments

Please find in attachment the message error: "Sorry, we encountered a problem"

The analysis we shared with you is based on our test and the SharePoint API calls.

The issue occurs on all site, and all page library.

We have 4 clients that encountered the problem, and reproached it on 2 of our test environments.

Clients stayed for more than a week with the same problem. We created the page on Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and we used SharePoint API and SharePoint UI.

    Hi @IniobongNkanga-8038

Regarding page naming, this is a known issue. I tested it in my environment and did not reproduce your situation. When the page is edited, you will be prompted to add a title when you click publish. So by default, the page without a title is accidentally closed. After you add a title to the page without a title, can the New function work properly? If the problem persists, you need to check the backend to see what went wrong. So we recommend you directly create a support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin. The support team over there has the correct escalation channel, they can involve more resource and investigate the behavior from back end as fast as possible. They also can check the behavior on your end remotely. For reference: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Docs

    Good day!
