Good morning, I have a 5 year old Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 with Windows 11, which shows the following behavior:

  • Battery doesn´t charge anymore. I have replaced the battery and deleted/reinstalled the driver, it didn´t help. The battery also doesn´t load through the USB-port. Power chord
  • It freezes after a forced restart
  • It also freezes when accidentally unplugging and switching to battery mode
  • It even freezes when changing energy mode

The trouble started while running Windows 10. I have upgraded to 11 and even done a complete reset, nothing has changed.

It looks like all these problems are linked. Can anyone help?

    See:

Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

From your description it seems to be a hardware related issue. It may be time to consider contacting Microsoft Support for hardware servicing or visiting a certified repair center.

    Hello,

    Check for Firmware Updates:

Occasionally, firmware updates are released for Surface devices that can resolve power management issues. Check for any pending firmware updates through the Windows Update settings.

    Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit:

Microsoft offers a Surface Diagnostic Toolkit that can check for and fix certain issues. Download and run the toolkit to see if it can resolve the problem.

Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds and then release it.

Press and hold the power button and the Volume Up button together for 15 seconds, then release both.

    Wait for about 10 seconds.

Press the power button to turn your Surface back on.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
