Hi Support,

I have the issue with the queries that I use everyday without any problem. However, today it shows this message. [This query cannot be executed because we can't get enough capacity for optimal performance in time. This can be an intermittent issue. Please retry later.]

According to some earlier threads in June 2024, it was an issue from backend server side. Is this the same issue?

Thanks.

    Hi Phuoc Nguyen,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Usually occurs when there are resource allocation or availability issues within the synapse service. Message suggests a temporary resource shortage, it could be due to high demand or service congestion in your region.

Here are some actions I would recommend you could take:

    1. Retry the query: Since it's often an intermittent issue, retrying might work after a short wait.
    2. Check Service Health: Review the Azure Service Health dashboard to see if there are any ongoing service outages or capacity issues in your region.
    3. Scale up: If this issue persists, consider scaling up your Synapse dedicated SQL pool (DWU) temporarily to meet the higher demand for resources.
    4. Optimize queries: If the same queries are causing consistent resource bottlenecks, consider query optimization to reduce resource consumption.

If the problem is recurring or widespread, it may indicate an underlying service issue, in which case opening a support ticket with Microsoft would help clarify whether it's a backend problem like in June 2024.
