How to unlock account???

I had to do the multifactor authentification for my Azure account. The Microsoft account in question had my old phone number connected to it- a number that is no longer in use. So I updated my phone number. So, as my "reward" Microsoft locked my account for an entire month- because I updated my phone number (apparently that is a security alert even though it was THEIR idea for that to begin with). I have been unable to do any of my post-graduate classwork as a result. It has now been OVER a month and it is still locked. Not a single help suggestion is even remotely useful. The American contact number sent me a link- to the same useless nonsense that doesn't help, and now it automatically hangs up on me every time I call it. There is not a single help, self-help, prompt, or otherwise that has even remotely aided me in this situation. How do I fix this? It seems as though Microsoft intentionally does not want to help anyone with anything.
