Microsoft OneDrive - Logs / Information for IT-Administrators?

Greetings,

my colleagues connect via Microsoft-Remotedesktop to their Azure Virtual Desktop and work there. Most of the things work pretty well, except OneDrive. No day passes without someone having trouble with OneDrive. Either OneDrive tries to sign in for hours and hours and nothing happens or they try to synchronize a microsoft teams library and OneDrive tells us it has to sync thousands, if not a bunch of million files, even when the library just has a very little amount of data.

We are using the OneDrive-Version "Build 24.181.0908.001 (64-Bit).

My question is: Is there any option for us IT-Administrators to improve our troubleshooting? Are there any logs, where we can see, what OneDrive is trying to do at the moment? All we can try is to close and reopen OneDrive, close OneDrive and rename the folder so OneDrive recreates this one. Resetting OneDrive sometimes helps, sometimes it doesn't. The reset process tho takes many hours, so it is not an option to reset it every time.

Maybe someone knows more about this topic than me.

Anyways, thanks alot in advance and best regards!

    Hi Tobias Jauch,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with OneDrive on Azure Virtual Desktop with Microsoft Remote Desktop. There are logs and diagnostic tools that can help you troubleshoot OneDrive issues:

OneDrive Logs: You can enable OneDrive logging to collect more detailed information about the issues your users are experiencing. To do this, Close OneDrive. Open the Run dialog box (Windows key + R). Type %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\logs and press Enter. Create a new folder called debug. Open OneDrive and reproduce the issue. Collect the logs from the debug folder.

OneDrive Diagnostic Tool: Microsoft provides a OneDrive Diagnostic Tool that can help identify common issues. You can download the tool from the Microsoft website.

Event Viewer: You can also check the Event Viewer logs on the Azure Virtual Desktop instance to see if there are any error messages related to OneDrive.
Ensure that users are running the latest version of OneDrive, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

OneDrive Sync Client: Check the sync client status by right clicking the OneDrive icon in the system tray and selecting "View online." This can sometimes reveal sync issues or errors.

Use the OneDrive Troubleshooter: Microsoft provides a OneDrive Troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve common sync issues. It’s worth running this tool on problematic machines.
