Users with Full access cannot delete e-mails from a shared mailbox in Outlook

Users have access to a shared mailbox. Until lastvfew days they could delete mail from the Inbox of that Shared Mailbox. Now when they select to delete any e-mail remains present in the mailbox. In OWA it appears to delete the e-mail but on a refresh the e-mail is still present. I have tried de-selecting the Cached Mode for the shared mailbox - it makes no difference - e-mails still cannot be deleted.

    Issue:

Users have access to a shared mailbox. When they select to delete any e-mail remains present in the mailbox. In OWA it appears to delete the e-mail but on a refresh the e-mail is still present.

    Solution:

Create a new mailbox and have re-direction of e-mails from the old to the new mailbox.

    Hi @Graham Duffy

    Welcome to our forum!

Is it that all users cannot delete messages from a shared mailbox or individual users?

    • If all users cannot delete messages: It is recommended to remove Full Access and reassign permissions to all users to see if the issue persists.
    • If individual users cannot delete messages, please refer to the following steps:
      1. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, clearing the browser cache can resolve issues with OWA. Try clearing the cache and cookies, then log back into OWA.
      2. Use Different Browser: If the issue persists, try accessing OWA from a different browser to see if the problem is browser-specific.
      3. Re-add the Shared Mailbox: Remove the shared mailbox from the user’s account and then re-add it. This can sometimes resolve synchronization issues.

If all above do not work, please refer to the article: Can't delete items from public folder - Exchange | Microsoft Learn and have a try.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the above. I am still wiating on our 3rd line team toi check some things. Unfortunately, Clearing browser (we only use MS Edge for our browser) for OWA makes no difference, re-adding the shared mailbox in Outlook malkes no difference.Think maybe it could be linked to some policy limits for e-mail. Once I am tild I will detail here.

It must have been a Policy limiting the size of the mailbox. We had to create a new mailboc and have re-direction of e-mails from the old to the new mailbox.
