Adding Files to Existing Indexes

Is there a method to add files to an existing index? After uploading a new file, I attempted to reindex, but it doesn't appear to have reindexed the new files.

It is not possible to add files directly to an existing Azure Cognitive Search index. However, you can achieve this by adding new files to your existing data source. For example, if you are using Azure Blob Storage as your data source, you can upload new files into the Blob Storage container. Once you do this, the indexer will detect the new files after some time and update your existing index accordingly when it runs.

New files are indexed based on the indexer's schedule. Indexing time depends on file size and index complexity, typically taking seconds to minutes.

Thank you for your follow-up query. You can also query the index directly using the Azure Cognitive Search Explorer or API to confirm that the content is accessible. If the content is correctly indexed, ensure that the AI bot has refreshed its data source to include the updated index. Lastly, verify that the fields containing the new content are included in the bot's search scope, as missing fields can prevent retrieval.
