SCCM : Configuration manager Client does not work with Windows 11

Hello,

I manage SCCM (2309 release ) and all my machines are currently with Windows 10.

Today, I decided to create an new task sequence for deploying Windows 11 Pro as part as a test. The task sequence is ready and was successfully deployed to one machine just for testing.

Installation is correct but something wrong with the SCCM client installed in the machine. Althought site code is correcty configured, only two actions appear (machine policy retrieval and user policy retrieval). Normally, 11 actions have to be present under actions tab. I clicked on the two actions, waiting for one hour, but anything happens. Still two actions appeared and software center does not load.

On SCCM console, I see my machine but with the previous OS, so SCCM does not receive informations from the client after deployed with Windows 11.

Is there something to check or update in the existing client configuration manager package ? In my task sequence, I used the same one that used for Windows 10 task Sequence. Is there another configuration that I forgot ?

I have no idea how can I solve that ...

Thanks a lot for your help.

Kind regards,

Izanagi

    Hi,

Thanks very much for your feedback and sharing. We're glad that the issue is gone now. It's appreciated that you could click "Accept Answer" to the helpful reply, this will help other users to search for useful information more quickly. Here's a short summary for the problem.

    Problem/Symptom:

Windows 11 test computer shows only two actions (machine policy retrieval and user policy retrieval) after OSD. We can see machine in SCCM console but with the previous OS, so SCCM does not receive information from the client after deployed with Windows 11.

    Solution/Workaround:

Errors were about "PKI" and certificate was missing because antorollement was possible only for windows 10.

    windows 11

Thanks again for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon

When only 2 actions appear, that means that the client is not getting registered with CM; you need to start by looking at the log files on that client. I would start with clientidmanagerstartup.log; if I client cannot register, that is often (for me anyway) where I get the best information for 'why not'.

fyi, Windows 11 vs. windows 10 I doubt is the issue. Windows 11 has been out for years, and lots of Win11 are CM clients all over, there is nothing inherently "different' about win11 vs win10.
