Hi Eric-Jon,
We had the same issue before, and it was frustrating. We also tried using the $200 free Azure credit, but it had expired without us realizing it, and then our card got charged. After that, we deleted the subscription, hoping it would stop the charges or trigger a refund, but no luck with that.
What worked for us was:
Contacting Azure Support: Go into the Azure portal and create a billing support ticket. Explain the situation clearly, mentioning that you expected to use the free credit but got charged instead. We also explained that we deleted the subscription immediately after realizing the charge.
Follow-up: Azure support was responsive in our case. They reviewed our case and processed the refund once we explained everything. It helps to be patient but also keep an eye on updates and follow up if necessary.
Clear Communication: Be upfront that the charge was unexpected, and you took quick action to delete the subscription. This seemed to help in getting things resolved faster.
If the refund request doesn’t work immediately, staying on top of the support case and providing detailed explanations worked for us, so it should help you too!
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Revelino
