Hello,

How do I get the Default Directory in Teams/Groups back?

a previous admin deleted it, I think it corrupted some Teams functions.

What is the purpose of it? I could not find any answers so far.

Many thanks.

Karen

    Hi @Admin K

In Microsoft Teams, the default directory usually refers to the SharePoint site and folders associated with the team. These directories are used to store the team's files and documents, ensuring that team members can easily access and share resources.

To restore the default directory, you can try the following steps:

    1. Restore through SharePoint:
      • Sign in to the SharePoint site associated with Teams.
      • Find the deleted folder or file in the Recycle Bin of the SharePoint site and restore it.
    2. Restore through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
      • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
      • Navigate to the Groups section and find the deleted team.
      • Select Restore the team, which will restore all resources associated with the team, including SharePoint sites and folders.

Thank you for your answer.Very much appreciated.

I cannot find the Default Directory Group in Deleted Groups or in SharePoint site. Groups and Sharepoint Sites are retainted for 30 days. This is what I found, so that answers my questions.

***"*If you delete a group, by default, it's retained for 30 days. This 30-day period is considered a "soft-delete" because you can still restore the group. After 30 days, the group and its associated contents are permanently deleted and can't be restored."
