Having issues using Microsoft Authenticator with my Personal Account.

When I try to log onto https://aka.ms/mfasetup I get the following error:
Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application '0000000c-0000-0000-c000-000000000000' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.

It gives me the following troubleshooting information for my IT administrator but as this is a personal account I don't have one:
Error Code: 16003

Request Id: 69d69179-256c-471d-95aa-975ee5a53a00

Correlation Id: 47c66f73-9ce8-4ba8-a181-71ef3efdf3eb

Timestamp: 2024-10-27T02:59:34.587Z

My authenticator app is having issues, I am not getting the pop up verification codes. The code when I click on my account is 8 digits long when the websites only let me enter 6 digits. I am not getting the options to use my email and phone number for 2FA even though when I log into support.microsoft.com it is configured to use these.

    Hello Kendra Coombe,

    Thanks for your question.

If the account is pusing you to a work account, then you maybe have cached credentials. I would recommedn trying a different browser or using an incognito or a private tab

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,
