    Hi @Sanjeev Reddy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

When planning to migrate SQL databases to Azure SQL VM using Azure Migrate (lift and shift), it’s important to gather specific configuration details for a thorough assessment.

SQL Server Versions: Identify the versions of SQL Server currently in use. This helps in determining compatibility and any necessary upgrades.

Monitoring Tools: List any monitoring tools currently in use (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, third-party monitoring solutions). This will help in planning for equivalent monitoring in Azure.

Backup Tools: Document the backup tools and strategies in place (e.g., SQL Server native backups, third-party backup solutions). Ensure you have a plan for backups in Azure.

List of Databases: Compile a comprehensive list of all databases, including their sizes and any special configurations or dependencies.

SQL Server Licenses: Gather information on SQL Server licenses, including the type (e.g., Standard, Enterprise) and any licensing agreements. This is crucial for cost estimation and compliance.

Performance Data: Collect performance data such as CPU usage, memory usage, and I/O statistics. This helps in sizing the Azure VMs appropriately.

Security Configurations: Document security settings, including authentication modes, user roles, and permissions. Ensure these settings are replicated in the Azure environment.

Network Configurations: Note any network configurations, such as firewall rules, VPN settings, and network latency considerations.

Dependencies and Integrations: Identify any dependencies or integrations with other systems or applications. This ensures that all necessary components are migrated and function correctly post-migration.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Document current HA/DR configurations and plan for equivalent setups in Azure.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure that any compliance and regulatory requirements are met in the Azure environment.
