Windows APP AVD connection issue from MAC

Hello,
I am encountering persistent connection issues with the AVD using the Windows App on my Mac, which have been progressively worsening. The connection to the AVD drops 2-3 times every hour. Notably, these interruptions do not affect other applications' connectivity, such as Microsoft Teams, as demonstrated during a 40-minute call that remained stable while the AVD connection was disrupted three times.

Additionally, each time I log off from the RDP session, I experience a temporary inability to use Slack, including being dropped from Slack calls during these AVD reconnections. I monitored my network activity via the Activity Monitor, and although there were no significant changes in network behavior, I observed occasional seconds where only a few network packets were sent or received, specifically affecting the AVD connection and not other applications.

Could you please assist in resolving these frequent disconnections and overall instability of my AVD sessions? I use the Windows App daily for client connections and this issue is impacting my productivity.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Regards,
Jason

    Hello Jason Pak,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

This is a complex issue that could have multiple causes.

    • If you're using a VPN, ensure it's configured correctly and not causing conflicts with the AVD connection.
    • Temporarily disable any third-party firewall or security software to see if it's interfering with the connection.
    • Try connecting via the AVD web client to see if the issue persists, which could help isolate whether it's a client-specific problem.
    • If possible, test the connection from a different network to rule out local network issues.
    • Ensure you're using the latest version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Mac. Sometimes, older versions can have compatibility issues.

    Hi Jason Pak,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

We understand that you are facing the connection issues with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on your Mac.

Additional to hossein jalilian, here are a few troubleshooting steps that help resolve the frequent disconnections issues of your AVD sessions:

Ensure that you have the latest version of the Windows App installed on your Mac.

Since other applications like Microsoft Teams are stable, it might be worth checking if there are any specific network settings or firewall rules affecting the AVD connection.
