Does SQL Server Reporting Services 2019 (Enterprise Ed or Dev Ed) really still support mobile reports?

A colleague and I have stumbled across something confusing regarding SSRS 2019 Ent Ed.

According to the MS site, mobile reports are still supported in 2019, see: SQL Server Reporting Services features supported by editions - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) | Microsoft Learn

Now the confusing part: the WebGUI does not show the appropriate option to create a mobile report. Here is the comparison with 2017 and 2019

2017

2019

I have installed 2017 and 2019 in a small HyperV environment on my notebook and even did an upgrade installation from 2017 to 2019.

With version 2019 the menu disappears you can, somehow, publish mobile reports to an SSRS 2019instance , but they do not show up in the appropriate path on the web page. Only inside the SSRS database you see the item in the catalog table.

Do we miss something here or is the documentation misleading?

BR,

Dirk

    Hi @Dirk Hondong

SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher is deprecated for all releases of SQL Server Reporting Services after SQL Server Reporting Services 2019. It's discontinued starting in SQL Server Reporting Services 2022 and Power BI Report Server.

In 2020, deprecation of Report Server features Pin to Power BI, Mobile Reports, and Mobile Report Publisher was announced. These features were removed from versions of SQL Server starting with SQL Server 2022 (16.x) and are no longer supported. SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, and SQL Server 2019 are supported in maintenance mode until End of Service (EOS) for existing customers.User's image

    Hi @Dirk Hondong,

Add *.* to the list of authorized extensions. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Start SQL Server Management Studio, and then connect to a report server instance that Operations Manager uses.
    2. Right-click the report server instance name, select Properties, and then select Advanced.
    3. Locate the AllowedResourceExtensionsForUpload setting, add *.* to the list of extensions, and then select OK.
    4. Restart SSRS.
    5. Then you could upload the mobile report to the server.

Not sure if the inability to create a mobile phone report in SSRS2019 is a forward preparation for deprecation.

Here is a release note mentioned that the mobile report is discontinued.
