I have a number of files in .SNP format, which originally could be opened with the Microsoft Snapshot Viewer which was part of Microsoft Access. I cannot find a safe version of that program to download. How can I view these .SNP files now or convert them into currently available file format.

    Hi,

Here are a few ways to open .SNP files:

    1. Use Microsoft Access (older versions): If you have an older version of Microsoft Access (prior to 2010), you can open the .SNP file directly in Access.
    2. Convert the .SNP File:
      • Open the .SNP file in an older version of Microsoft Access, if available, and export it as a PDF or another format.
      • Alternatively, you can use third-party file conversion tools to convert .SNP files to PDF, but exercise caution to ensure data security.
    3. Virtual Machine with Snapshot Viewer:
      • You can set up a virtual machine with an older version of Windows and install Microsoft Snapshot Viewer (no longer officially available from Microsoft).
      • This will allow you to view the .SNP file in its original format within the VM.
    4. Use Third-Party Tools: There are some online and downloadable viewers that can open .SNP files. Make sure the tool is reputable to avoid security risks. For example: Snapshot Viewer (https://download.cnet.com/snapshot-viewer/3000-2064_4-10744524.html)
