Dear all

Is the Uptime SLA documented in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/aks/free-standard-pricing-tiers?WT.mc_id=Portal-Microsoft_Azure_Expert#uptime-sla-terms-and-conditions only about the Control Plane (API Server)? And if true, does it mean the relevant SLA for Runtime (Compute Nodes) is in fact the SLA for Azure Virtual Machines?

In the SLA Document it also states:

""Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Cluster" A Kubernetes cluster is divided into two components:

·         Control plane nodes provide the core Kubernetes services and orchestration of application workloads.

·         Nodes run application workloads."

Wonder if somebody can clarify on this. Thanks 😊

Azure Kubernetes Service
Azure Kubernetes Service
An Azure service that provides serverless Kubernetes, an integrated continuous integration and continuous delivery experience, and enterprise-grade security and governance.

Yes it is for the control plane which includes the API server.

    • Uptime SLA guarantees 99.95% availability of the Kubernetes API server endpoint for clusters that use Availability Zones.
    • Uptime SLA guarantees 99.9% of availability for clusters that don't use Availability Zones.

Worker nodes are governed by the underlying VM and their availability is governed by the Azure Virtual Machines SLA.
