Has anyone had experience turning on the Enrta ID P1 Trial?

I want to be sure that starting the trail is NOT going to (unless I make changes)

  1. Change any settings for any existing users to do with their MFA requirements
  2. Change any settings to do with or affect the ability for users to access the Azure Virtual Desktop

I want to sure that during the trial:

  1. I will be able to assign the P1 Licenses to user during the trial as needed
  2. Enabling the trial will let me carry out testing for Conditional access scenarios

Thanks in advance

Hello Lorne, Welcome to MS Q&A

During the Entra ID P1 trial, you can assign P1 licenses to users as needed. This allows you to test various features, including Conditional Access scenarios. The trial provides access to the capabilities associated with the P1 subscription, enabling you to explore and validate the functionalities.

    Hello @Lorne Bonnell ,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Q&A.

I hope information provided by @Deepanshukatara-6769 is helpful.

Additionally, Starting an Azure AD Premium P1 trial won’t change any current settings for user MFA requirements or affect access to Azure Virtual Desktop unless you make specific configuration changes.

During the trial, you’ll be able to:

    • Assign P1 licenses to users.
    • Test conditional access scenarios without impacting existing settings.

In short, activating the trial provides access to new features while keeping your existing user settings intact until you apply new policies.

NOTE: It’s important to note that the Entra ID P1 trial has a time limit and will expire after one month. If you wish to continue using the service beyond the trial period, you will need to purchase licenses for your users.

For more information, see Microsoft’s Microsoft Premium Trails

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
