Sign-in Failures in Microsoft Entra ID Using Entra Connect Sync

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Entra Connect (2.4.21.0) on Windows Server 2022.

During this process, "Microsoft Entra Connect Sync upgrade" was executed, and I reached the "Connect to Microsoft Entra ID" screen.

When the account sign-in screen appears and I enter my user ID and password for authentication, it switches to "Keep your account secure" and "Update your browser" screens, preventing me from signing in.

I have already tried the following:

  • Set Edge as the default browser
  • Updated Edge to the latest version (130.0.2849.80)
  • Uninstalled IE functionality
  • "Based on this link, I added 'AzureADConnect.exe' and set the DWORD value to 11001, then re-ran Entra Connect."

When checking IE settings, although the IEToEdge BHO addon is enabled and I believe I have configured it to redirect to Edge even when opened in IE.

What other settings should I configure to make the sign-in successful?

    Hello @Ryuta Motomori,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

This type of error often occurs when authenticating to Microsoft Entra Connect if the user account does not have a registered multi-factor authentication (MFA) method. If you're prompted to register a new MFA method from the Entra Connect prompt window, this is expected behavior, as adding a new MFA method directly from Entra Connect is not supported. To resolve this, I recommend first registering a new MFA method using the Edge browser. Once registered, you should be able to connect to Microsoft Entra Connect without issues. You can register your MFA method at aka.ms/mfasetup.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
