Hello,

I work in IT for my company. We have a user on a Macbook Pro using the newly re-visioned Windows App (previously Remote Desktop). We require MFA with our work accounts so they need to approve the sign in using the Microsoft Authenticator app whenever they log in. However, since the app was updated to the Windows app, the app no longer displays a 2 digit code for them to input into their Authenticator app to approve the sign in. Current workaround is to approve the sign-in with a text message. We have re-installed the app but it was ineffective. Microsoft Authenticator app is also updated to the latest version.

We have also reset the Authentication methods for the user. Really the issue is not the Microsoft Authenticator app itself as the user receives sign in prompts with no issues. The issue seems to stem from the Windows App itself on macOS since that is supposed to be displaying a 2 digit code to approve the sign in. User receives the notification on their phone but cannot authenticate because there is no code presented to them. Please see below screenshot.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

macOS X (15.0.1)

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) M1 Pro

Windows App version 11.0.6

    Hello
If the Microsoft Authenticator app on macOS or Windows isn’t showing the two-digit code needed to approve sign-ins, try these steps:

Update the App: Ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator, as updates often fix bugs and compatibility issues.

Check Notifications: Confirm that notifications for the Authenticator app are enabled in your system settings, as this can prevent code prompts from appearing.

Sync Time Settings: Make sure your system clock is set to automatic or syncs with the internet, as incorrect time settings can disrupt app functionality.

Re-add Account: If the issue persists, remove and re-add the account in Authenticator.
