Hi @Murali Krishnan Radhakrishnan •
Thank you for sharing your issue on Microsoft Q&A. I Understand that you are having trouble upgrading your Microsoft Entra ID license to a trial for premium.
To upgrade your existing Microsoft Entra ID free license to a premium tier, signing up using your Azure subscription with previously purchased and activated Microsoft Entra ID licenses and you need to register with work or school email address to get your Microsoft Entra ID P2 trail associated with your Azure free tier tenant. Steps to Activate the Microsoft Entra ID P1/P2 Trial License:
1.Sign in to Microsoft Entra ID and create a new user account.
2.Assign the Global Administrator role to the newly created user, then reset their password.
3.Activate the Microsoft Entra ID P2 Trial:
4.Go to the Entra ID P2 Trial page and follow the activation steps.
During this process, when asked for the email address, use the UPN (User Principal Name) from step 2.
If the email address is already associated with another Microsoft service, you’ll be prompted to log in with that account. Use the password you set for this user earlier.
After logging in, you should be redirected to a page showing the Entra ID P2 trial with a "Try now" button. Click it to start the trial. You may encounter some error or configuration messages related to the "Sold-to address" and "Registration number," which will need to be updated.
Check Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
Once redirected to the MS365 Admin Center, confirm that the default directory in the Billing accounts section matches the email address you used to create the Free Azure Account.
Ensure that the same users are listed as in your Free Azure account.
Update the "Sold-to address" and verify the "Registration number" in the Billing Accounts section.
Add a valid payment method to proceed.
Log out of all sessions, close your browser, and clear your cache.
Re-log into the Microsoft Entra/Azure portal using your Free Azure Account email.
Restart the Entra ID P2 Trial Activation:
Begin the Entra ID P2 trial process again by following the steps from Step 4. You should now be able to activate the trial without encountering any issues or notifications.
After completing the trial activation, if required, go to Licenses > All Products in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and assign the Microsoft Entra ID P2 license to your main Azure account.
Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
Best Regards.
