We want to enable WebSignin in Windows.

However, WebSignIn succeeds on my device, but fails on others' devices.

On the device that fails, when I try to sign in by selecting the globe icon on the OS sign-in screen, the browser does not appear and I am returned to the OS sign-in screen. There is no problem with the network.

I suspect that this may be a problem with 24H2, but does anyone know?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

When enabling WebSignin in Windows, the issues you are experiencing may be related to different OS versions. Based on the information you provided, the successful device is using version 10.0.22631.4169, while the failed device is using 10.0.26100.1742 and 10.0.26100.2033. This indicates that there may be compatibility issues related to WebSignin in newer versions of Windows.

Here are some of the reasons and solutions that can cause WebSignin to fail:

The failed device you mentioned is using the 24H2 version (10.0.26100.x), it is advisable to check if there is an update available, or consider rolling back to a successful version for testing.

Make sure that on the failed device, the default browser is set up correctly and that there are no security settings or extensions preventing WebSignin from working properly.

While you mentioned that there is no issue with the network, make sure that the network configuration is consistent across all devices, including DNS settings and proxy settings.

Check the identity provider configuration related to WS-Fed to ensure proper access on all devices.

Ensure that the settings for Windows Hello for Business are consistent across all devices and that there are no policies blocking the use of WebSignin.

Looking at the Windows Event Viewer on the failed device for WebSignin-related error logs may provide more clues to troubleshooting.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
