Can Bookings with me force the user to provide information on why the booking was made?

I have a personal bookings page (aka Bookings with me) for Consultation / Support 25 minutes.
When people make the booking, they rarely tell why the booking is being made, so that I can prepare properly.
In the description field I have written "Add the reason for meeting to the Notes -textbox!" but people still do not.
Can I make the Notes -textbox a mandatory field before submitting the booking?
Is there another option to force people to provide information on what topic the booking is for? I don't want to use the full bookings experience with custom questions. That feels like using a bulldozer to put a nail in a wall. :)
