Keyboard Shortcut for Bold Text Changed in Czech Version of MS Word

The keyboard shortcut for bold text has suddenly changed from Ctrl+B to Ctrl+N in the Czech version of MS Word. How can this be changed back to the original shortcut?

This only works while I'm logged in - every day it defaults back to cntrl+N again. It's so annoying. :-(

@J O'Toole, are you in a business environment? In that case, the system is probably deleting your Normal template for each new log-in.

Hi Stefan, yes I am and I hear what you're saying. Things do get over-written being on a business server. I guess I need to re-program my fingers....!

Thanks for the follow-up. I hope that Microsoft get its shortcuts sorted, which will fix that part of the problem.

Getting your local admin not to mess with users' Normal templates may be a more challenging task. :-(

Open Word Options:
- Go to File > Options.
Customize Ribbon:
- Select Customize Ribbon from the left menu.
- Click on the Customize button next to Keyboard shortcuts at the bottom.
Modify Shortcut:
- In the Categories list, select Home Tab.
- In the Commands list, find and select Bold.
- In the Current keys box, you might see Ctrl + N. Click on it and press Remove.
- In the Press new shortcut key box, press Ctrl + B.
- Click Assign and then Close.
Save Changes:
- Click OK to save your changes and close the Word Options dialog.

It only works temporarily - the default template over rides it as soon as it can. Please correct in a new update!

Recently, many localized versions of Word have lost (some of) their well-established shortcuts. This appears to be a bug, and Microsoft is investigating. For one example, see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/shortcuts-have-changed-in-word/a7191869-e4eb-49e1-8cc9-8c2952e43c48 .

As has been mentioned by other posters, you can restore shortcuts manually.
